Gluten Free Kitchen is dedicated in training all staff to a high level of awareness about hygiene, food contamination and food preparation. We pride ourselves on our clean premises and handling of our fresh produce. We provide training for local young adults who have just finished their schooling and pay them to participate.
I have been in the food industry for more than 20 years and have worked in and managed various establishments in Australia throughout my career. My accomplishments have been mainly food designing, catering and consulting for various restaurants, locally and internationally.
I adore food and love playing with raw ingredients to create fantastic dishes and menus. I am also passionate about teaching individuals to be able to appreciate and learn about all things “Food” and how it can be done from the raw ingredients to an amazing end dish.
When I first came to Bali, it took at least one year to be able to survey Ubud, research and know the type of restaurant I would like to create. I noticed most of the restaurants were offering similar menus except for of course the fine dining restaurants and I knew I needed a point of difference to ensure a successful venture.
I then travelled to Japan for a snowboarding experience and whilst skimming down the slopes I had a revelation, I knew exactly the kind of restaurant I wanted to open. Within a three month period, Warung Schnitzel was born. It took me at least another three months to develop an ideal recipe and technique to create a perfect schnitzel in this tropical climate.
Over many years at Warung Schnitzel, I finely tuned the menu many times to suit the varying tastes and palettes of our customers, one being the much talked about GLUTEN FREE FOOD. With my own genuine passion for healthy living and eating, I commenced intensive research and experimentation and it took two years of R&D and to design the menu as of today. I offered the recipes to be tested by Coeliac’s and by people who just preferred to eat healthy. They raved about the different creations, how I could achieve amazing taste sensations even though GF.
So we introduced some delicious GF dishes into our menu and changed our name to the House of Schnitzel and the rest is history. It has been a journey but now are proud to present our new cafe and bakery, GLUTEN FREE KITCHEN that is completely Gluten Free, 100% Coeliac friendly and 100% made with love.
We have a Health Regulated preparation area so there is no cross contamination. Often we were asked if we would make the GF products for people and businesses to purchase, so we decided it was time to get serious and our in-house Bakery was conceived and sell both in our cafe and wholesale in the Ubud area.
We are committed in training with high international standards and instruct in the importance of food consistency. Unfortunately we cannot employ all of our apprentices but we are investing in their future employment so that they have sufficient experience, sound food practices to provide them with a good base for their next step in life.

With the realisation, my inner knowledge and passion for all things healthy, it was just a natural progression to revamp the existing restaurant into what now is being called GLUTEN FREE KITCHEN...a health and wellness cafe for one and all. A great many dishes on the menu were already gluten free so I have kept the popular ones and added others to give a well rounded tastefest.
